GeForce 7900 GTO: Specs And Photos
These days gave us another reason to feel sorry for beginner users that are not much into diversity of PC components, especially graphics cards. Because, besides the official announcement of NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS and 7950 GT, there appeared information about yet another novelty - GeForce 7900 GTO.
At the moment they plan to supply these cards only to European OEMs, but as we all know, GeForce 7900 GTO might easily leak into retail as well.
Sources state that the novelty will be nearly identical to GeForce 7900 GTX, including the look and feel.
The G71 core used in GeForce 7900 GTO will work at 650 MHz. All 24 pixel and 8 vertex pipeline as well as 16 ROP units will be in place. The 512MB of 1.4ns GDDR3 memory (256-bit) will work at 1.38 GHz, which again is identical to that of GeForce 7900 GT.
In other words, the card seems somewhat obscure. This can also be said about its price - somewhere between GeForce 7900 GT's $249 and GTX's $349.
Considering the specs, we assume the card will perform slightly better than 7950 GT.
