Sony UX280P - The Most Powerful UMPC?
About a week ago Sony removed all entries regarding its UX180P UMPC from its online store.
It became clear a couple of days ago when the UMPC UX280P was offered instead.
The changes were mostly related to HDD and RAM capacity. Now these make 40GB and 1GB (DDR2-400), respectively. Processor remained the same - Intel Core Solo U1200 1.2GHz. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also there, but in regions where Wi-Fi is not widespread, EDGE might become the key means of Internet access.
Let's revise the UX180P/UX280P common specifications in brief:
- 4.5" 1024x600 touchscreen
- Intel 945GMS chipset
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, up to 128MB shared VRAM
- 64-key keyboard
- Fingerprint sensor
- 0.3-megapixel and 1.3-megapixel cameras
- 100Mbps LAN
- 2.5-4.5 hours of battery life
In general, Sony UX280P is a leader among UMPCs in both performance and features. Its price of $1999 is not that comfortable however.
