Sony Presents New Professuinal Headphones
Sony's new MDR-7509HD professional headphones are designed to meet the closed-type monitoring needs of front-of-house (FOH) and studio engineers, musicians and other audio professionals working with high-resolution digital audio recording and playback equipment.
The new headphones are also capable of handling the high frequency response presented by Direct Stream Digital (DSD) and High Sampling PCM recording technologies.
“These new headphones incorporate HD driver units capable of 80 kHz ultra-wide range reproduction,” said Paul Foschino, senior manager for professional audio in Sony Electronics’ Broadcast and Production Systems Division. “Their superb tonal balance and extended frequency range enable them to take full advantage of the 24 Bit/96 kHz expanded bandwidth achieved by such products as Sony’s new PCM-D1 portable recorder.”
The new models feature Auranomic circum-aural driver units. Designed to closely match the angle of the human ear, these units were developed to reduce pressure on the ear and increase comfort during periods of extended use.
The headphones’ closed-type design significantly reduces outside interference. They also feature 3000mW power capacity for high-level sound monitoring and 360kJ/m³ high power neodymium magnets that enable driver units to reproduce clear midrange tones.
The MDR-7509HD professional headphones are currently available at a suggested list price of $265.
