Spansion Extends Wireless Family With Introduction Of 3-Volt Mirrorbit Product Line
Spansion, the Flash memory venture of AMD and Fujitsu Limited, today announced the introduction of the 3-volt MirrorBit technology-based PL-N product line, designed to satisfy the growing code storage demands in wireless handsets.
Spansionís PL-N family operates at 3V and features the same feature set as Spansionís floating-gate family. Devices are available in 128 Mb and 256 Mb densities, with densities as high as 512 Mb, available in multi-chip packages (MCPs). The two families are package, and pin-out compatible to help ensure seamless migration to MirrorBit technology. Spansion also provides certain software driver code and support free of charge.
MirrorBit PL-N family members offer page-mode operation with page access times of 25ns and feature Spansionís simultaneous read/write function, which is designed to conduct reads while programming or erasing with no latency. MirrorBit PL-N family products also ship with Spansionís innovative Advanced Sector Protection, a security feature that can be used to help protect wireless handsets from malicious attacks and viruses.
Samples of MirrorBit PL256 Mb NOR Flash memory devices are now available and targeted for production in Q4.
