VIA Launches K8M890 IGP PCI Express Chipset with DirectX 9 Support — Cormac @ 15:05
VIA Technologies today announced the VIA K8M890 core logic chipset featuring the new S3 Graphics DeltaChrome Integrated Graphics Processor core designed to meet the requirements of the upcoming Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.
Enabling support for DirectX 9.0 and Pixel Shader 2.0 for high quality video processing, the VIA K8M890 also boasts the Chromotion Video Display Engine, extensive display support including all HDTV output formats up to 1920x1080p, advanced 2D/3D graphics capabilities, comprehensive de-interlace support and DuoView for presentation capabilities.
Featuring the Ultra V-Link bus, the VIA K8M890 combines with the latest VIA South Bridges, including the recently introduced VIA VT8251, to create a platform with VIA Vinyl HD Audio, additional PCI Express connections, and more storage capabilities.
The VIA K8M890 chipset is available now and boards featuring the chipset will be available from all the world's leading motherboard manufacturers in Q4 of this year.
