AMD Opteron 100 Series: Now With ECC Support
It has been a while since the announcement of AMD Opteron 100 processors. But now this series obtained the support of unbuffered ECC memory, so it´s worth a news piece.
By the way, AMD will continue shipping usual AMD Opteron 100 Series processors supporting registered memory as well.
The new processors already recieved support from Sun that announced Ultra 20 Workstation based on the new AMD Opteron 100. This workstation has already made a performance record in OCUS 4 CAD benchmark.
At the same time AMD Opteron 200 and 800 Series will continue working with registered memory and Socket 940.
AMD Opteron 100 Series with unbuffered ECC support are expected for sale in about 30 days. Besides, Opteron 100 processors for DDR2 memory will also obtain ECC support. Speaking of certain models, the new 144 will cost $125, 152 $799. Dual-core Opteron 100 Series 165 will cost $417 and 175 will cost $530. All of the above is correct for over 1,000-unit quantities.
