AGEIA PhysX products pricing disclosed
At E3 AGEIA Technologies, Inc., the developer of PhysX, a specialized processor for handling gaming physics, officially disclosed recommended prices for the first add-in cards on these GPUs which are to go on sale late this year. In particular, we know that ASUS is planning to make some novelties on AGEIA PhysX.
AGEIA PhysX offloads CPU of calculations related to physical modelling of game environment. PhysX architecture is optimized for multi-threaded vertex processing that enables to create animation better in all aspects.
PhysX chip will be made using 0.13µm process by TSMC.
Sample production of these add-in cards is planned for Q3 2005, while retail sales are to start in Q4 2005. The recommended price ranges from $249 to $299. Not much it might seem, but don´t forget to add the price of a graphics card itself. Makes quite a sum.
