SiS releases SiS761GX integrated chipset for AMD64 PCI-E platforms, SiS966 Southbridge
Silicon Integrated Systems today announced the release of the SiS761GX integrated chipset, the first to support AMD64 platforms with PCI Express x16 graphics interface. The SiS761GX is equipped with a DirectX7-based Mirage 1 graphics core that has software support for DirectX 9.0, dual-screen output (when paired with the SiS307 video bridge chip).
The SiS761GX supports the AMD 64-bit platform´s advanced HyperTransport 1G specifications (up to 2000MT/s) and utilizes the proprietary MuTiol 1G bridge interconnect.
SiS has also released its newest SiS966 Southbridge, which offers 1GB/s bandwidth over the MuTiol 1G bus. The SiS966 offers two PCIe x1 ports, with Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1 High Definition Audio surround sound, 8 x USB2.0/1.1, 4 x SATA ports fitting AHCI specifications, 4 x Parallel ATA133 standard IDE interfaces.
The new SiS761GX also provides support for RAID configurations, including RAID 0, 1, 0+1, and JBOD.
