IBM sells new Sonoma and P4 based notebooks
Today IBM launched sales of its new Sonoma-based notebook, ThinkPad T43, as well as the new ThinkPad G41 DTR based on Pentium 4.
The basic configuration of ThinkPad T43, 1871-11J, based on 915GM chipset includes: Pentium M 730 (1.6GHz), 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, DVD-ROM, IEEE802.11b/g and 14.1" display (1024x768). It costs $1850.
The best configuration of ThinkPad T43, 2668-92J, (on the photo) bases on Intel 915PM chipset and includes: Pentium M 760 (2.0GHz), 80GB HDD, 64MB MOBILITY RADEON X300, DVD±RW drive, IEEE 802.11a/b/g, fingerprint sensor, 15" 1400x1050 display. Such a machine costs $3100.
All configurations also include Gigabit Ethernet, modem, 2 x USB2.0, PCMCIA Type II. Battery is claimed to provide power for about 3.5 hours. The 14" model is sized 311x255x26.6 mm and weighs 2.3kg, while the 15" model is sized 329x268x31 mm at 2.7kg weight.
As for ThinkPad G41, it bases on Pentium 4 552 (3.46GHz), has 512MB RAM, 15" display, DVD±RW, IEEE 802.11a/b/g adapter and costs about $2000. With dimensions of 329x282x37.1mm it weighs 3.8kg.
