Sharp to launch sales of new Mebius desktop on March 5
On March 5 Sharp Corporation is to start selling its new stylish "DVD-player-style" Mebius PC-TX23H desktop PC. The price is still open, but it´s expected to be about ¥260K (Windows XP Home Edition SP2 included).
Unlike the previous PC-TX26G/GS systems with 26" wide displays, the novelty will have 23" wide monitor with the following features (series´ traditional): 1366x768 (WXGA) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 16M colors, approx. 500cd/m² brightness, 550:1 contrast, 16ms response, 176° viewing angles (all sides).
The system will feature a built-in TV tuner and will be able to record movies using its MPEG-2/MPEG-1 hardware encoder. As you can see on the picture, the remote control is supplied by default.
System interfaces include: analog RGB, 15-pin D-sub, S-video, Video-in (RCA pin), L/R audio-in (RCA), TV antenna input (VHF/UHF), microphone jack (3.5mm monaural), line-in/out (3.5mm stereo jacks, optical digital audio output, 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x 6-pin IEEE1394 and 1 x 4-pin IEEE1394 ports.
The main PC specifications include Celeron D 330 (2.66GHz) CPU, 256MB RAM (2GB max.), Intel 865G (with built-in graphics), DVD multi-format drive, 250GB Ultra ATA/100 HDD.
As for audio features, they are: integrated AC´97 sound, stereo speakers built into the monitor, Virtual Dolby support (Dolby Pro Logic decoder).
Sized approximately 439x326x61mm, the enclosure weighs 7.8kg. The monitor, in turn, is sized 589x223x479 and weighs about 13kg.
