Logitech to introduce 1600 dpi mouse in January?
It seems that very early next year Logitech is going to surprise hardcore gamers with a next-generation mouse with improved optical unit. At least the Web continuously brings new photos of an unknown prototype.

"MX PROTOTYPE" resembles MX510 (MX500/MX700 upper body part is on the left on the photo above). The new mouse looks shiny, but somewhat trodden, as if it has accompanied its owner in a real battle. The veteran mouse style.

The LED sensor, according to the booklet, has resolution of 1600 dpi. And those little white stickers are meant for advanced gamers who need lesser friction between the mouse and the pad.
Anyway, the magical number "1600" seems more like an answer to Razer Diamondback then an answer to gaming needs.

However, it´s not just the resolution that is called to shock potential buyer on the spot. The real innovation is a possibility to adjust sensor sensivity on the fly by purely hardware means, which are buttons near the wheel allowing you to select between 400, 800 and 1600 dpi.

There´s contradictory information about the model name. Perhaps, it will be MX518 (MX6xx seems to be reserved for wired MX1000 with laser sensor) or "G series" (Gamer series?).
There´s a chance the new mouse will be announced in January, but most impatient can try to purchase this device online at eBay.
