M25P64: 64 Mbit Serial Flash from STMicroelectronics
STMicroelectronics released high-speed 64 Mbit Serial Flash chips M25P64 operating at up to 50 MHz and providing up to 50 Mbps throughput. M25P64 utilizes 4-bit SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface).
The new chip is positioned for multifunctional printing devices, motherboards, desktop consoles, CD and DVD players, digital cameras, graphics cards and LCD monitors. Chips are packaged into MLP8 (6x8mm) or S016 casing (ST ECOPACK Pb-free technology) that meet the Restriction on Use of Hazardous Substances.
Operating temperature ranges from –40 to +85 °C, data storage time is over 20 years, max. rewrite cycles over 100,000. JEDEC 16-bit electronic signatures are supported.
The novelty is now sampling, volume production scheduled to Q1 2005.
