Sony shifts High Speed Memory Stick PRO Duo sales to February
Sony informed that sales of High Speed Memory Stick PRO cards will be launched on October 8, while sales of HS Memory Stick PRO Duo will be delayed until February 10, 2005. Currently HS Memory Stick PRO series includes 256, 512 MB and 1, 2 GB cards, while HS Memory Stick PRO Duo series includes 256, 512 MB and 1 GB cards.

According to the press release, the reason to delay sales of HS Memory Stick PRO Duo is the need to check if existing equipment is ready to support the new flash media.
The company claims that its High Speed media will outperform existing solutions by two times providing 80 Mbps throughputs. The cards will be supported by both new readers and those working with older Memory Stick PRO.
