Computex 2004: Kingston showcases 1GB MMC 4.0
As we have already written, before Computex 2004 Kingston Technology introduced several high-speed MultiMediaCard 4.0 (MMC 4.0) flash cards. Initially only 128MB MMC was available, while 256MB and 512MB MMC 4.0 were expected for sale this year. But at Computex 2004 the company showcased 1GB model, so the only mentioned in the press release, but unseen is 2GB card.
If you remember, MMC 4.0 specs imply 20MB/s read and 17MB/s write speedsm 1.8/3V voltage, 1-bit, 4-bit and 8-bit buses. MMC 4.0 is backward compatible with the previous MultiMediaCards and controllers.
As promised, at Computex 2004 Kingston showcased its new media with the new Skymedi SK6802 MMC 4.0 controller. Sales are expected to start in Q3 this year.
