ATI RADEON X800 officially announced
Yesterday ATI officially announced its new RADEON X800 GPU and the first graphics card on it.

RADEON X800 features 16 pixel and 6 vertex pipelines, supports GDDR3 memory and is claimed to provide 8 billion pixels and 800 million vertex per second.
Similar to the previous RADEON 9700 and 9800 GPUs, RADEON X800 is positioned for the high-end market segment and is made using 0.13µm process and low-k dielectrics by Taiwanese TSMC. .
Additionally RADEON X800 supports 3Dc technology of high-resolution normal maps compression to save memory resources. In the nearest future we should expect RADEON X800-based announcements from ABIT, ASUS, Celestica, Club 3D, Connect 3D, Creative, Diamond, Elsa, FIC, Gigabyte, Hightech Information Systems, Info-Tek, MSI, Sapphire, Tul, VisionTek, Xpertvision, Yuan.

As for ATI itself, today it offers two RADEON X800-based cards, RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition (520/1120MHz; 256MB GDDR3; $500 MSRP) and RADEON X800 PRO (475/900MHz; 12 pipelines; GDDR3; $400 MSRP.)
