SST unveils 8Mbit Serial Peripheral Interface flash
Silicon Storage Technology unveiled its new 8Mbit SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) series, SST25LF080A, based on the proprietary SuperFlash technology.
The new chips are designed for hard drives, printers, security systems, wired and wireless networks. They feature 33MHz max. clock frequency and 8µA typical standby current. According to the press release, the company expects to add the 33MHz speed option to the 1Mbit and 512Kbit serial flash devices in H2 2004.
SST´s 8Mbit chips support Auto Address Increment (AAI) operation and small sector erase capability. The 8Mbit novelties are offered in 8-pin SOIC packages.
Brief specs:
- 3.0~3.6V I/O voltage
- Up to 100,000 rewrites
- 100-year safe storage
- 7mA read current
- 70ms chip-erase time
- 18ms sector- or block-erase time
