Apple unveils new notebooks with DVD recorders and 802.11g
Apple officially unveiled new models for the iBook and PowerBook series. Based on PowerPC G4, novelties feature AirPort Extreme 802.11g, Bluetooth, DVD-ROM/CD-RW or DVD recorder.
iBook G4 are positioned as relatively inexpensive notebooks (slightly over $1000 with 1.0GHz processor and 12" LCD) feature up to 1.2GHz processors, 256MB RAM, 32MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9200, Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther" and are bundled with iLife´04 (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and GarageBand.) Optionally you can have AppleWorks, Quicken 2004 for Mac, WorldBook Encyclopedia 2004 Edition and Tony Hawk´s Pro Skater 4 installed. As usual, notebooks feature 56K v.92 modems, Ethernet (10/100BASE-T), 2 x USB2.0 and 1 x FireWire 400.
New PowerBook G4 feature 1.33-1.50 GHz PowerPC G4 processors, 4x SuperDrive DVD-R/CD-RW, integated AirPort Extreme 802.11, 15" or 17" LCD, 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 or 64MB NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200, Bluetooth, Ethernet (Gigabit Ethernet in senior models). The bundle includes Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther, iLife´04, Expose, Instant On and Automatic Networking (auto-switching Ethernet, 802.11 and modem. PowerBook G4 basic configuration will cost $1600.
