Renesas SH-MobileL: a new mobile handset processor
Renesas Technology introduced its new SH-Mobile handset processor series, SH-MobileL (SH7322), to be sampling in Japan in May. SH-MobileL is designed for handling mobile multimedia apps, audio and dynamic images.
From the previous solutions SH-MobileL primarily differs by its support of 2-megapixel UXGA (1600x1200) digital cameras that are to become usual in the new handsets. By the way, by March the company has shipped about 10 millions of SH-Mobile products with up to 1.3-megapixel cameras support.
SH-MobileL bases on the same 120MHz core as its predecessor, SH3-DSP. It features 32KB of built-in memory and 32KB cache for Java apps handling, MPEG4 video and MP3 audio processing, etc.
