4GB and 2GB Microdrives expected in Japan in January
About a year ago we first reported that HGST (Hitachi Global Storage Technologies) was going to release 2GB and 4GB Microdrive storage solutions with CF Type II interface. As you know, in November HGST started sampling 4GB drives.

It seems that in January such disks will arrive to the retail in large quantities, but under different trademarks. Today Japanese Melco announced the similar release 4GB RMD-4G ($780) and 2GB RMD-2G ($400) drives to be sold under the Buffalo brand.
The new 4GB Microdrive support only FAT32, so they won´t work with older digital cameras and other equipment supporting FAT16 only.
