Gigabyte NA501: a mobile Centrino meccano
Gigabyte decided to promote its notebooks in a rather unusual way: yesterday Morex, the large French distributor started selling Gigabyte NA501 notebook as a... barebone, i.e. without a CPU, memory, and HDD that you should purchase yourself.
In France such a portable "meccano" costs €908 offering you:
- Pentium M CPU support
- i855GM integrated chipset
- 2 x SO-DIMM sockets for DDR266
- 2.5" ATA100 HDD support
- Int. DVD/CD-RW (DVD 8x, CD 24x, CD-R 24x, CD-RW 10x)
- 15" 1024x768 LCD
- Audio, 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x FireWire, 1 x PCMCIA II slot, Ethernet, modem, VGA and TV-out, etc.
- 2.8kg weight
- 330x273x29.9mm
- 5-hour battery
The price for this Centrino kit seems good (until you start inquiring about Pentium M retail prices ;-).
