Sun unveils Fire B100x – the new blades on Athlon XP-M 1800+ under Linux/Solaris
Sun Microsystems extended its Sun Fire Blade series with the new Sun Fire B100x on AMD Athlon XP-M 1800+ processors.
Sun Fire B100x servers feature chassis identical to SPARC-based solutions VIA KT333 + VT8367 chipset. They have 1GB or 2GB PC2100 with ECC, 30GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drives, 2-channel Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000BASE-T), Athlon XP-M 1800+ (1.53GHz).
Sized 26.0x338.7x114.8mm, each server weighs about 1.15kg. The bundle can include pre-installed Red Hat Linux 7.3/8.0/9.0, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 2.1/3.0, SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server, Solaris 9 x86 Platform Edition. Scheduled for sale for the late December, Sun Fire B100x are to cost over $2400.
