Club-3D ships XGI Volari Duo V8 Ultra graphics cards
Today Club-3D officially launched shipments of the new dual-GPU Volari Duo V8 Ultra graphics cards with 256MB of 256-bit DDR2 and 350/400MHz clock speeds, D-Sub, DVI and TV connectors. The company´s website has cards images and specs as well as drivers and manuals. However, we haven´t found any mentions of sales, but only of preliminary orders.

Anyway, XGI´s intriguing debut took place theoretically. Theoretically, because XGI itself scheduled the official GPU debut to the next Monday, December 8. Perhaps, on that day will get to know more details about Volari Duo V8 Ultra chips as well as press releases of XGI partners. Maybe we´ll even obtain the first photos from retail stores. Today someone´s successful debut is far more interesting than his market presence. The success will be made of volume shipments date, pricing, drivers quality, and finally the performance of retail cards (not samples). In order to occupy 10% of the desktop graphics in 2004, XGI will need something except the press releases alone.
And now we can state that everything goes almost as planned. Almost – because at Computex 2003 the dates of Volari Duo V8 Ultra volume shipments were mentioned as "late November – early December". Well, there´s still some time left...
P.S. If you are interested in getting to know the general specs of the new GPUs and Volari Duo V8 Ultra sample performance results, please read our news posted on November 4: XGI Volari Duo V8 Ultra: first test results and specified roadmap.
