Psion Teklogix unveils a NETBOOK PRO PDA
Psion Teklogix that was rather popular in the market in the past is trying to win back its positions by releasing original novelties. In May we reported that the company introduced an unusually shaped Pocket PC Psion Teklogix PC 7535. And now the company released even more interesting model that looks like a notebook, but is actually a PDA NETBOOK PRO.
From usual PDAs on Intel XScale PXA 255 and Windows CE.NET, NETBOOK PRO differs by a larger full color SVGA display and extended number of interfaces that theoretically allows to use various 802.11b, Bluetooth, GSM/GPRS or CDMA/1xRTT devices. Brief device features are:
- CPU: 400MHz Intel Xscale PXA255
- Memory: 128Mb SDRAM, 32Mb Flash
- Display: color SVGA (800x600) LCD touchscreen with CCFL backlight
- OS: Microsoft Windows CE.NET version 4.2
- Keyboard: 58 buttons
- Audio: AC97 codec
- Ports: RS232, IrDA 1.1, Mini USB 1.1 master, USB slave (for a docking station)
- Stereo headphones-out, mic-in, built-in speaker
- Slots: CF card Type I & II, PCMCIA Type I & II, SDIO/SD/MMC
- Power: Li-Ion battery, 10.6V 2200mAh ; 2 x backup AAA batteries
- Size: 235x184x35mm
- Weight: 1.1kg
NETBOOK PRO will be shipping to USA and Europe in the late October through Psion Teklogix official reseller network. Pity, but pricing hasn´t been disclosed yet, but I guess this model will be able to compete with some sub-notebooks and PDAs if it´s right.
