An ultra-slim speaker from Matsushita
Matsushita announced the development of an ultra-slim speaker.
Unlike traditional speakers using cylindric voice coil in the magnetic gap, Matsushita´s novelty utilizes sandwich-type magnetic curcuit. According to the company, Sound Slim speaker uses a magnetic circuit which produces a horizontal magnetic flux in the repelling magnetic field formed by two magnets with the same polarity, arranged vertically in parallel to each other. Such speaker is said to be twice shorter and thinner than a similar traditional speaker. Besides, as the magnetic field is almost fully inside, there´s no need to shielding the speaker from the sensitive electronics.
