An ecological PowerMate eco from NEC Solutions America
NEC Solutions America announced PowerMate eco — a desktop non-cooler multimedia "all-in-one" system, just 20 dB noisy. NEC titled its PowerMate eco "ecological", as it features notebook components, low power consumption, absence of coolers and minimal lead usage.
PowerMate eco has 15-inch LCD screen without boron unlike traditional CRT monitors. Its motherboard doesn´t feature any lead solder, finally, PowerMate eco case is made of special NEC´s proprietary non-toxic NuCycle plastic, being a mix of polycarbon resin and special fire-slowing admixtures, made of 100% secondary raw materials.
Now, a little about internals: PowerMate eco features 900 MHz Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 processor, 20GB hard disk, 15-inch TFT XGA LCD monitor with 160° viewing angles, 256MB RAM (640MB max.), CD-ROM or DVD/CD-RW combo, 16MB ATI RAGE Mobility-M6 graphics, pre-installed Microsoft Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000 Pro.
The price of a standard PowerMate eco with 900 MHz Transmeta Crusoe, 15.0" XGA TFT LCD panel, 256MB RAM, 20GB hard disk and pre-installed Windows XP Professional will make $1599.
