New CanoScan LiDE line from Canon
Canon announced three compact scanners belonging to a new CanoScan LiDE family. "LiDE" stands for "LED Indirect Exposure". Devices feature CIS (Contact Image Sensor), USB, also used as a power source. Z-Lid enables to lift the scanner lid up to 32 mm high to scan volume documents (i.e. books).
The top CanoScan LiDE 50 will appear for sale in the beginning of October for about $170. The model supports 1200x2400 dpi optical resolution, 16-bit internal and external color depth (RGB). In the 600 dpi mode scanner provides up to 6.4 ms per line for color documents and 3.1 ms per line for b&w documents. The scanner supports USB 2.0. CanoScan LiDE 50 dimensions are 258x374x38 mm, weight 1.8 kg.
CanoScan LiDE 30 (1200x2400 dpi, approx. $140) and CanoScan LiDE 20 (600x1200 dpi, approx. $120) will appear for sale in September. Both models support 16-bit internal and 8-bit external color depth (RGB), 600 dpi read makes about 16 ms per line for color and 5.3 ms per line for b&w documents. Models feature USB 1.1. Scanner dimensions are 256x383x 34 mm, weight 1.5 kg.
All three models are supplied with PhotoStudio, PhotoBase, Photoshop Elements, OCR software, Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 9 / Mac OS X 10 drivers.
