A miniature vertical DPP-EX5 photoprinter from Sony
Sony likes to release products with usual features encased into unusual design. For this many prefer to buy its stylish devices, sometimes overpaying for the possession of remarkable thing. Now the company released a new portable DPP-EX5 photoprinter, expected for sale in October. It seems to be a usual device supporting 403x403 dpi resolution, 24-bit color/dot (8 bit/color, YMC), Exif Print (Exif 2.2), but featuring an attractive vertical case.
But back to the specifications. The printer supports automatic 60-200% image scaling with a 10% step, brightness, contrast, saturation and sharpness control. File formats supported: DCF (Exif 2.1/2.2), JPEG, TIFF(RGB), 4:4:4 / 4:2:2 / 4:2:0 compressed JPEG, BMP (24-bit/ Windows), JFIF. It prints on postcard (1612x2418), L (1412x2015), business card (1516x1137) paper formats. The speed is 90 sec for a postcard print.
The device features USB 1.1, a traditional MemoryStick slot, NTSC-out. The dimensions are 78x288x200 mm, weight about 2.3 kg. DPP-EX5 expected price is about $230, a pack of L-sized paper (SVM-30MS, 30 sheets) costs about $10.
