IBM announces new eServer BladeCenter
Today IBM announced new Xeon-based eServer BladeCenter.
One 7U BladeCenter rackmount can contain 14 BladeCenter HS20 blades.
Each of them supports up to 2 Intel Xeons and features a hard disk.
Optionally, BladeCenter can support fibre channel switches and Gigabit Ethernet. 7U BladeCenter rackmount is available for $2790, each HS20 blade — for $1880 and more.
Besides BladeCenter, IBM today released new IBM Director 4.1 software, included with IBM eServer BladeCenter. The software package includes blade setting, control, and offline control features and is compatible with Microsoft Exchange 2000.
