Samsung Electronics announced new 46-inch LCD panel.
The novelty features 12 ms response time, 1280x720 (2.76 million pixels) resolution, 16:9 sides, optimal for new HDTVs. Pixel size makes 0.795 mm, max. brightness – 500 cd/m, dimensions – 1103x629x50 mm, weight – 18 kg, power consumption – 230W. Wide 170° viewing angle is achieved due to the proprietary Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) technology. Color saturation of the new model makes 72% (NTSC), contrast – 800:1.
46-inch LCDs are made at Samsung´s new 5G fab in Korea from 1100x1250 mm substrates, yielding to two 46-inch LCD panels. The volume production is scheduled to H1 2003.
