New AMD Mobile Athlon XP 2200+
Today AMD officially announced a new mobile processor AMD Athlon XP 2200+. Like all the previous models. It supports AMD PowerNow!, AMD 3DNow! Professional. Processors will be produced at Fab 30 in Dresden using 0.13-micron copper process technology.
New mobile AMD Athlon XP 2200+ will be shipped for reasonable $186 in over 1,000-unit quantities. It’s interesting that the price list at the company website still doesn´t contain any data about the novelty, and the price is provided in the press release only. Price list information enables to think that lower-end lines will be price-cut soon, as the prices for Mobile AMD Athlon XP 2000+, 1900+, 1800+ are still $345, $239á $196, respectively).
Several companies have already announced notebooks on this processor. Fujitsu Siemens Computers will ship AMILO A-x600 series for the European market. Epson Direct will sell its notebooks in Japan, Time Computers´ models will appear in UK later this month. HSN will ship models on the new processor to USA.
