ATI starts to ship FIRE GL X1-128 MB and FIRE GL Z1

Today ATI Technologies announced shipments of FIRE GL X1-128MB and FIRE GL Z1 professional cards for high-performance workstations.

FIRE GL X1-128MB and Z1 feature fully programmable floating point architecture and support OpenGL 2.0, Microsoft DirectX 9.0, AGP 8X. Both are based on FGL 9700, but FIRE GL Z1 bases on a pared-down FGL 9500. The difference is that FIRE GL X1-128MB has 8 parallel rendering pipelines and FIRE GL Z1 – only four.

Both cards are supplied with Right Hemisphere’s Deep Visualizer full, Deep Exploration and Deep Paint 3D trials. FIRE GL X1-128MB will appear in December, the suggested price is $795. FIRE GL Z1 will be available from January 2003 for about $595.

Note: as you can see the box claims for 256Mb installed on FIRE GL X1, though there are two versions described at the company website – 128Mb and 256Mb. However, the press release contains info about FIRE GL X1-128MB. Hard to tell what the company values at $795... And FIRE GL Z1 naturally has 128Mb.
