Sun Microsystems announces new telecom servers
Yesterday at ITU Telecom Asia 2002 Conference in Hong Kong Sun Microsystems announced the line of CompactPCI-certified solutions: Netra CT 410 and 810 cPCI telecom servers, Netra CP2140 and CP2160 cPCI blades, and Netra HA Suite Foundation Services (FS) 2.1.
Working under Solaris and Netra HA Suite FS 2.1, Netra CT 410 and 810 cPCI blades are the update of popular Sun Netra CT and provide up to 16 CPU/module and 48 CPU/rack scalability. New servers enable to create up to 7-node clusters in a single cPCI segment.

Netra CT 410 and 810 cPCI telecom servers are based on CP2140 and CP2160 modules on 650 MHz UltraSPARC IIi. Netra CP2140 is a system slot controller with 2 õ 10/100 Ethernet and 2 õ SCSI, PMC slot, up to 4Gb memory. Netra CP2160 cPCI has two PMC slots, front and rear I/O and 10/100 Ethernet ports, 8Mb user flash, 3Gb RAM (including 1Gb built-in and 2Gb slots).
Shipments of DC-powered Netra CT 410 and 810 have already started for $19,195 and $22,995; AC-powered models are expected in December. Netra CP2140 shipments have already started as well for over $3,995. Over $4,395 Netra CP2160 will appear early in 2003.
