Canon announces new 4-megapixel PowerShot S45
Canon USA announced the new PowerShot S45 digital still camera to replace PowerShot S40.
Canon PowerShot S45 features 1/1.8" 4-megapixel CCD with 2272x1704 max. resolution (3.8 million effective pixels), 3x optical (F2.8-4.9) lens, 3.6õ digital zoom, 1.8" LCD, DIGIC processor. The camera supports 9-point AiAF autofocusing (against 3-point of the PowerShot S40), 9 white balance modes, etc. Data can be stored on Compact Flash Type I / Type II (including Microdrive), 32Mb Compact Flash Type I is included into the bundle.

Canon PowerShot S45 is also supplied with ZoomBrowser EX 4.0 (Windows), ImageBrowser 2.7 (Mac); PhotoRecord 1.6 (Windows); PhotoStitch 3.1, Apple QuickTime 5.0, CP-100 Print Driver 2.1, Acrobat Reader 4.0, File Viewer Utility 1.0, and RemoteCapture 2.6 (Windows/Mac), Windows XP and Mac OS X drivers, and is supported by the previous OS versions as well. Encased into the silvery body, the camera features improved movie mode (up to 3 min w/sound), supports Direct Print to Canon CP-100 and some of the Canon Bubble Jet devices. The expected availability of PowerShot S45 is December, the suggested retail price is about $650.
