Hewlett-Packard releases new blades
Hewlett-Packard announced new 4-processor ProLiant BL40p blade for the line of 1-, 2- and 4-processor blades. HP ProLiant BL40p bases on 1.5-2.0GHz Xeon MP with 400MHz FSB and is designed for systems supporting several CPUs and SAN connectivity, for example, large enterprise application server arrays, messaging systems, CRM and ERP systems.
Besides, HP has also announced a new generation of HP ProLiant BL20p G2 on 2.8GHz Xeon with 533MHz FSB to connect to various SANs. New HP ProLiant BL20p blades are designed for terminal server arrays, web hosting systems, e-commerce and streaming services.
The company also presented a new version of HP ProLiant BL10e server on 900MHz ULV Intel Pentium III with 512Kb L2 cache. HP ProLiant BL10e is a solution for working on the border of network and infrastructure, i.e. in web servers, internetwork screens and caching servers. A 3U case can contain up to 20 HP ProLiant BL10e blades, and the full-size 42U rackmount – 280 units.
ProLiant BL p and e class are backward compatible with existing BL cases to protect customer investments. HP ProLiant BL blades are controlled through HP ProLiant Essentials, HP Insight Manager 7 and HP OpenView software. HP ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack provides simultaneous automatic configuration and installation of operating systems and applications to hundreds of servers.
The company will start to accept orders for these products in mid-March. In USA HP ProLiant BL40p will cost from $8999, HP ProLiant BL20p – from $3399. HP ProLiant BL10e on 900MHz ULV ïðîöåññîðîì Intel Pentium III with 512Kb L2 cache is already available for about $1859.
