ALPS presents IEEE802.11a/b dual-range comm modules
ALPS announced volume production of UGJ comm modules supporting two WLAN standards — IEEE802.11a (5GHz, up to 54Mbps) and IEEE802.11b (2.4GHz, up to 11Mbps). Modules will be produced in two variants: Mini-PCI Type III-B and PCMCIA cards.
New cards support AES and WEP encryption with 40-, 104- and 128-bit keys, are compatible with European TPC and DFS standards and with Japanese 4.9GHz range.
Dimensions of Mini-PCI modules are 59.6x45.0x3.4 mm, of PCMCIA cards – 119.0x54.0x5.0 mm. Volume shipments of both card types are expected in April, MSRP of both modules is about $400. In the nearest future the company plans to update UGJ series with IEEE802.11g solutions.
