IDC: Nanya enters the Top 5 Memory Makers rating
According to Taipei Times, the fiscal results for 2002 provided in the latest marketing survey of International Data Corporation (IDC) indicated that Taiwanese Nanya Technology occupied the world’s 5th place, having swapped with Japanese Elpida Memory.
Though the former intends to win the lost position back and even become the world’s 3rd by 2005. Currently lacking funds for production facilities expansion, the company hopes for investments from Intel as well as Mitsubishi Electric’s memory making facilities to be placed at company’s disposal in April. Besides, the collaboration with Taiwanese Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) should add more funds too.
But Nanya doesn´t stand still as well. A new 300mm fab, being constructed together with German Infineon Technologies, should increase its market presence by 10% (and that of the latter – by 20%.)
