PMA 2003: more novelties from Lexar Media
The current PMA 2003 in Las Vegas is bringing a huge amount of announcements. For now I’ll mention novelties from Lexar Media.
First, the company released new 2Gb and 4Gb CompactFlash 32X intended for professional TIFF and RAW images (Kodak 14n, Nikon D1x, Nikon D1h, Nikon D100). These support the proprietary Write Acceleration technology. Currently Lexar Media’s CompactFlash Professional serie includes 256Mb, 512Mb, 1Gb, 2Gb and 4Gb models. 2Gb Type I devices will be available for about $700. 4Gb Type II cards – for about $1500.
The company has also updated the assortment of Secure Digital products, having released 32X 256Mb and 512Mb cards.
The next novelty is 256Mb xD-Picture card supporting up to 3Mb/s throughput and expected in April.
Besides, Lexar Media announced a new version of its Digital Photo Player. Featuring a remote control, it supports CompactFlash I/II, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, Smart Media and MultiMediaCard and allows JPEG browsing and TV output. Shipments of Digital Photo Player 2.0 are to start in March, expected price is about $80.
Moreover, the company presented a new USB 2.0 card reader supporting Memory Stick PRO (along with CompactFlash Type I and Type II, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, Smart Media and MultiMediaCard). Shipments will start in April, expected price is about $40.
