Dell Inspiron 5100: new dual-spindle notebook on desktop P4
Dell Japan informed about new dual-spindle Inspiron 5100 notebooks based on desktop Pentium 4 processors. Both novelties feature Intel 845PE and 16Mb Mobile Radeon 7500 graphics as well as PC Card Type II slots, USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 ports, Ethernet, V.92 modem and video-out.
Minimal configuration of Inspiron 5100 featuring 14.1" 1024x768 (XGA) LCD display, 2.40GHz Pentium 4, 256Mb PC2100 (up to 1Gb), 20Gb HDD, 24x CD-ROM and Windows XP Home Edition will cost 154,800 yens (about $1300). With 15" XGA display, external USB floppy, 40Gb HDD, 8/24/10/24x DVD/CD-RW combo it will cost 202,300 yens (about $1700). Besides, a variant with 15" 1400x1050 (SXGA+) display is available.
Notebook dimensions are 335x46.5x275 mm, weight (incl. Li-Ion battery and CD-ROM) –about 3.5 kg, claimed battery operation – about 3 hours.
