ATI licenses Pentium M bus
ATI Technologies signed the license agreement with Intel regarding Pentium M bus. In particular, it enables ATI to develop proprietary chipsets for Pentium M chipsets.
No finance or other aspects are available as well as release dates for an alternative to i855 in the form of recently announced Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro.
As far as I know, ATI is the first company to receive such rights. And it might as well be the last: neither SiS, nor Ali or especially VIA doesn’t allowed in this market. I doubt if any of them are granted such a license.
