Tejas and Prescott: more details

PC Watch reported some more details on Tejas and Prescott processors. If you remember, the former will support 1066MHz FSB and feature 4.4-5GHz clock speeds and new packages.

Tejas

  • 90/65nm process technology
  • 120-140 mm² (90nm) and 80-100 mm² (65nm) crystal size
  • Enhanced Hyper-Threading
  • 8 new instructions (Tejas New Instructions, TNI) for improved voice recognition, multi-threading, Dolby Digital support (codename "Azalia"), etc.
  • 1Mb L2 cache
  • 24Kb L1 cache
  • 16Ęb custom op cache
  • 800/1066MHz FSB
  • Socket T LGA 775 package
  • Dual-channel DDR2 400/533MHz, PCI Express x16 & ICH6 support

Prescott:

  • 90nm process technology
  • 109 mm² crystal size
  • 13 new instructions (Prescott New Instructions, PNI) for video encoding, thread synchronization and complex math ops, float-to-integer conversions, etc.
  • LaGrande support
  • 1Mb L2 cache
  • 16Kb L1 cache
  • 800MHz FSB
  • Socket T LGA 775 package
  • 3.4GHz initial clock speed; up to 5GHz
  • Dual-channel DDR2 400/533MHz, PCI Express x16 & ICH6 support

Expected availability: Prescott – Q4 2003, Tejas – 2004.
