VIA PT800, PT880 and PT890 chipsets; updated roadmap of 800MHz FSB solutions

On April 9 we informed you that VIA Technologies was to rename its PT400, PT600, PT800 chipsets to PT800, PT880 and PT890. Yesterday Taiwanese The DigiTimes indirectly confirmed this, having added new details.

So, VIA Technologies’ new line of P4 800MHz FSB chipsets now includes discrete PT800, PT880 and PT890 (renamed from PT400, PT600 and PT800) and integrated PM800, PM 880 and PM890.

PT800 supports single-channel DDR400, PT880 – dual-channel DDR400 and Quad Band Memory (QBM), PT890 – DDRII and PCI Express. Below if the final table of 800MHz FSB chipsets (presuming all players obtain their licenses):
