New Intel Pentium 4 and i865 chipsets officially announced
Today Intel officially announced three new Pentium 4 processors with Hyper-Threading along with three new Intel 865 (Springdale) chipsets.


New Intel Pentium 4 CPUs feature 2.80C, 2.60C and 2.40C GHz support HT and 800MHz FSB. Intel 865G and 865PE chipsets support HT and Intel 800MHz as well along with AGP 8X. Chipsets also feature USB2.0 and Serial ATA interfaces and some versions have integrated RAID Serial ATA.
Intel 865G and 865PE support dual-channel DDR 400/333/266 memory. Mainstream home and enterprise Intel 865G bases on the new Intel Communications Streaming Architecture (CSA), defining a separate network bus; has integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2. Intel 865G is the first chipset released within Intel Stable Image Platform Program. Formerly codenamed Granite Peak, it focuses on enterprise customer, ensuring them hardware and drivers stability for at least 12 months.
The third chipset Intel 865P has same functionality and supports dual-channel DDR 333/266, AGP 8x and 533/400MHz.
Besides, Intel also launched shipments of the following boards: ATX D865PERC, D865PERL and D865GBF; and micro-ATX D865PESO, D865GLC.
In over 1,000-unit quantities Intel Pentium 4 2.80C, 2.60C and 2.40C will cost $278, $218 and $178. Under same conditions Intel 865G will cost $44 (ICH5R) and $41 (w/o RAID). Intel 865PE will cost $39 (ICH5R) and $36 (w/o RAID). Intel 865P $36 (ICH5R) and $33 (w/o RAID).
