MSI 865 Neo: a new 865PE/865G-based motherboard family
(MSI) announced the new motherboard family on Intel 865PE and 865G chipset – 865 Neo – for Pentium 4 processors with 800MHz FSB. Currently it includes 865PE Neo2-FIS2R, 865PE Neo-L, and 865G Neo2-LS models.
865PE Neo2-FIS2R features integrated Intel PRO/1000CT Gigabit LAN, ICH5R + Promise RAID (RAID 0, 1, 0+1). 865PE Neo-L seems to be a lighter budget version with ICH4 supporting USB2.0.
In its turn, 865G Neo2-LS is positioned as a solution for enthusiasts with features similar to 865G Neo2-LS (same ICH5R, Promise RAID (RAID 0, 1, 0+1), Serial ATA and Intel 10/100 LAN).
Both 865PE Neo-FIS2R and 865G Neo2-LS introduce the interesting CoreCell technology with 4 features: Speedster, BuzzFree, PowerPro and LifePro. Speedster is designed for overclocker BIOS management; BuzzFree provides system monitoring (the load, in particular); PowerPro manages power, reducing the consumption to 67%. LifePro extends mobo and CPU life cycle, seeming to be a kind of HDD S.M.A.R.T.
