AMD K8 to be shipped in August
According to The Digitimes, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), decided to ship its Athlon 64 with K8 core in August instead of September as it had been said before. This information was supplied by such brands, as Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology, which announced about receving 3100+ and 3400+ in August. However, considering that shipments of 200-300,000 unit/month will be launched closer to the year-end, the Pentium 4 platform won’t be pressed in the nearest future.
Expecting new AMD processors, VIA Technologies has recently renamed K8T400M, K8M400 and K8PCIE into K8T800, K8M800 and K8T890, respectively. NVIDIA, in its turn, plans to release Crush K8, Crush K8S and Crush K8 Pro chipsets.
