Novell does not stop NetWare development
As it was recently mentioned in the news, published at LinuxWorld conference,
Novell is considering to stop NetWare development. This is far from true, as
we reckon. Here´s the quotation of the official letter we received from Novell´s
Russian branch:
"Inspite of our often statements, that NetWare development and support
would not be stopped Novell´s discussions regarding Linux invariably results
worries about Novell´s fulfillment of engagements regarding NetWare. Let us
destroy the worries.
As we constantly say it, we´re not giving NetWare up, we just adding Linux.
Novell always pay much attention to customer´s needs, and nowadays customers
want to have an option. As we told this April and repeated the idea at LinuxWorld
we will make Novell´s services available for new NetWare kernel versions as
well as for Linux kernel. Novell has huge amount of NetWare users and we´ll
keep them served as usual. The latest NetWare version (6.5) will be supplied
starting next week, it will include new powerful services for steady business,
open sources, Web application services and "virtual office" support.
Nowadays we´re working on NetWare 7.0 – it will be released for NetWare and
Linux kernel as well. This fact is unlikely could be considered as our decision
to give up our obligations."
