IDF Fall 2003: New Vanderpool technology announced
Our Дмитрий Коростелев, who is now at IDF Fall 2003, reported us the real sensation:
Today, the day IDF was opened on, the new Vanderpool (VT) technology was announced within The "T´s" concept. It hasn´t been ever mentioned anywhere before.

The appearance of VT resembles the LaGrande technology announced with the same surprise last year. By the way, it is also a part of The "T´s" that includes Hyper-Treading (HT) and Centrino (CMT) as well.
So what is the Vanderpool? Pity but no details are available for now and Paul Otellini has provided very scarce information in his keynote as well. However, in general it´s a virtualization technology similar to the one used in servers (e.g. virtual partitions). Besides, Vanderpool will be responsible for system reliability. Paul Otellini demonstrated a Simpsons cartoon playing during the operating system bootup, surprising the audience and exciting it for a laugh (this latter is related to Simpsons:).
It seems Vanderpool is a hardware-software technology, but I still haven´t got to know its mechanism, so I´m waiting for details to be disclosed.
More reports to come, stay tuned!
