None of the above happen if I use Wave Out, Direct Sound or Kernel Streaming. Do I still get bit-matched playback with these other output methods or is it necessary to use ASIO in audio applications in order to get real bit accurate playback in audio creation mode?
By the way, X-Fi is the only card that has a bit-matched playback option to select, in Audigy you only have bit-matched recording (see here http://tinyurl.com/wthf7 for "...or Bit-Matched playback which is only available under the Audio Creation Mode of Sound Blaster X-Fi cards..."). My brother has Audigy 4 Pro with the latest drivers and there's no such thing as bit-matched playback option in his drivers. I mention this because in the recent M-Audio Revolution 5.1 review I read "Envy24XX cards used to compete with Audigy2/ZS models, which couldn't disable SRC 44>>48. It was a common situation to have two cards: one for games, the other for music. Now we can disable SRC in Audigy2 Value, Audigy4, and X-Fi cards." and "Junior X-Fi cards or even cheaper Audigy2 Value/Audigy4 cards that allow to disable SRC will be more expedient with the launch of X-Fi XtremeMusic or X-Fi XtremeGamer OEM." |
